The Academy has a global outlook, and uses its international partnerships to ensure that the UK benefits from international networks, expertise and investment. As part of its work, the Royal Academy of Engineering has established the Higher Education Partnership Programme, which aims to ensure that the higher education system in sub-Saharan Africa produces engineers with the skills and knowledge required to meet industry needs and tackle local challenges. The Academy also runs the Africa Prize, an initiative that encourages ambitious and talented sub-Saharan African engineers from all disciplines to apply their skills to develop scalable solutions to local challenges.
